Moroccan port city with a Spanish flair

Al Hoceima boasts a rich history and culture. The city still preserves many Spanish influences from the days when Spain ruled this region. Visit Spanish forts, fortresses and the catholic church. Spanish houses, a school, street names and the traditional siesta also remind us of the past. Locals still preserve the traditional paseo: the leisurely evening stroll along the city's squares and shopping streets to see and be seen.

Sunny sandy beaches

The biggest attraction in Al Hoceima are its stunning sandy beaches. The most beautiful and famous beach in the region is Playa Quemado, a favourite destination for sun lovers. Don't forget to also explore underwater: dive in and go snorkelling to admire colourful fish and corals. Or look for colourful shells in the sand. Playa Quemado is located near the port. This is were local fishermen bring their daily catch to shore. Rent a boat and discover many small islands and hidden bays along the coast. Hike or cycle through the National Park

Known for its beautiful nature, Al Hoceima's National Park is also great for hiking and mountain-biking. Hike or cycle through the Thuja forests and visit Berber villages. Feast your eyes on the region's gorgeous flora and fauna. Adventurous travellers climb to the top of Mount Jebel Tisouka or Jebel El Kelaa. You will be rewarded with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. Or relax on the park's magnificent white beaches framed by steep cliffs. Keep an eye out for the many bird species, including the osprey. With luck you might even spot dolphins.
