On the slopes in no time

Salzburg Airport is at the foot of the Alps and next to the city. So you can access the region’s many snow-covered ski resorts in no time at all. Berchtesgadener Land is only 15 minutes away, for example. The resort is particularly good for beginners. Though experienced skiers will also have a great time here, partly thanks to the breathtaking view over Salzburg. Werfenweng is about a 30-minute drive. This ski resort is perfect for the whole family and features special practice lifts. Another nearby popular winter sports destination is Hochkönig. Fanatic skiers and snowboarders are mainly attracted by the great variety of terrain and the charming villages. Drive a little further to Salzburger Sportwelt. This large ski resort has various slopes for beginners and more experienced winter sports enthusiasts. So most ski resorts are not in the immediate vicinity of Salzburg, but rent a car and you will be there in no time!

Looking for a cultural excursion in between all the fun in the snow? Then Salzburg is the perfect city. Churches, castles, palaces and other picturesque sights provide an enchanting experience. Admire Fortress Hohensalzburg, for example, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe. This 900-year old walled fortress towers high above the city.
