The Alps, Venice, Verona, Milan and Tuscany

Italy is a gorgeous country packed with variety. In the north, you’ll find stunning ski slopes in the Alps as well as a number of cities that are worth a visit. Glide through the Venice canals in a gondola, visit Romeo & Juliet's balcony in Verona and shop the elegant boutiques in the fashion capital Milan. If you continue travelling south, you’ll arrive in the beautiful region of Tuscany. Book a rental car through Transavia Holidays and discover the romantic Tuscan hills. Drive along roads lined with sunflowers, olive trees, grapes and rows of cypress trees and visit ancient cities such as Lucca, San Gimignano, Siena and Pisa. These architectural gems are steeped in history.

Go on a beach holiday to Italy

If you prefer the beach, Italy has plenty of options. Italy boasts around 7,600 km of coastline along the Adriatic, Ionian, Tyrrhenian and Ligurian seas. For instance, visit the five picturesque villages in Cinque Terre. Access these remote fishing villages by train, boat or on foot and take in the breathtaking views. Drive further south from Cinque Terre along the coast and you will be rewarded with amazing vistas as you make your way to the Amalfi Coast. In the Baia di Erchie you’ll find a beautiful white beach with clear water. Or fly to Sicily or Sardinia for that real Italian dolce vita island getaway.

Take a city break to Rome

The capital of Italy, Rome should be on everyone's bucket list. Travel back to Roman times and visit the Colosseum or the ruins of the Roman Forum. Or follow in the footsteps of artists such as Michelangelo and Bernini. You’ll be amazed by all the beautiful buildings, statues and other works of art in the city. Also include a visit to the Pope's official residence in Vatican City. Although located in the heart of Rime, Vatican City is an independent state and the smallest country in the world. If you need a quick break, grab some ice cream at Il Gelato di San Crispino (Rome’s best ice cream parlour). Then walk through the Villa Borghese city park and find a spot to enjoy a nice plate of pasta. Buon appetito!
