The perfect island for (young) families

Like Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera, Menorca is part of the islands in the Balearic archipelago of the Mediterranean Sea. These islands make up an autonomous region in Spain. Menorca is the second largest island after Mallorca. Menorca's beautiful beaches and lovely child-friendly hotels attract many young families every year. That is why the island is sometimes referred to as Buggy Island. Other travellers, including couples and adventure travellers, will also feel at home here. There is so much to explore.

A journey along the breathtaking coastline

Menorca is famous for its magnificent beaches. With more than 200 kilometres of coastline, this is the perfect destination for those who love swimming, snorkelling or practicing other water sports. It offers wide beaches with lots of facilities and activities, as well as small, hidden coves for you to enjoy the piece and quiet. The wide sandy beaches gradually slope down to the sea, perfect for young kids. Or explore some of the smaller, idyllic secluded beaches. Get ready to feast your eyes. The most popular beaches, such as Cala Galdana and Son Saura, are located in the southern and western part of the island. Do you want to see all the beaches? Rent a car to take you there.

“Places are never too far apart on the relatively small island of Menorca. Perfect!”

Visit Mahon

The capital of Menorca, Mahon is home to around 30,000 residents. Mahon's historic city centre boasts charming shopping streets. In addition to shops, there are bars and restaurants, as well as several playgrounds. A tourist train offers an easy way to get around. You will have plenty of opportunity to take a break from shopping and enjoy the beauty of the island. Another lovely town is Ciutadella de Menorca. The historic centre is home to unique shops and offers a magnificent view of the old harbour.

A lively landscape

In 1993 the entire island of Menorca was added to the Unesco Biosphere Reserve list. It owes this honour to its magnificent landscape and the many animal species that live on and around the island. The Parque Natural des s’Albufera des Grau nature reserve is a habitat to more than 220 bird species. Menorca also fosters a unique partnership between people and animals. To protect the animals, Menorca’s government does not focus on attracting mass tourism.

Everything within reach

Board a plane to Menorca and within two hours you will set foot on the island. The island only measures 50 by 20 kilometres. That means everything is within easy reach. It will take you no-time to go from the airport to your accommodation. Perfect for those travelling with young children.
