The best things to see in Palma

Soak up Palma's rich history with a walk through the city. Visit the Almudaina Palace, the holiday residence of the Spanish royal family. Next door is the magnificent Gothic cathedral of La Sau, which like the palace was also built in the 13th century. Stroll along the charming shopping street of Passeig des Born, lined with charming bars and shops. Continue your tour through the historic city to the central square of Plaza Mayor. Grab a seat on a terrace to take in the authentic atmosphere and watch the street performers. Walk a little further to reach the Mercat de l'Olivar, a bustling indoor market. Immerse yourself in the scents and colours of this traditional market and sample delicious local products such as oysters and wines.

Fun activities in and around Palma

There are various ways to discover the capital of Mallorca. Grab a bike and head out on a fun cycling tour. An English-speaking guide will tell you about the ins and outs of the city. Our favourite recommendation for the best nightlife is the La Lonja district with its hip bars and clubs. Looking for a fun family day outing? See almost 9,000 different animals and observe the rich marine life at the Palma aquarium. Another way to get up close and personal with underwater creatures is by booking a catamaran tour and go diving or snorkelling. Around Palma you will also find a wide range of adventure activities, such as quad biking, cliff diving, water parks and beautiful caves including the Hams and the Dragon Cave. And last but certainly not least, Palma boasts many sun-drenched beaches, such as Playa de Palma.

Discover the island of Mallorca

It’s easy to book a rental car with Transavia Holidays to discover all the beauty at your own pace. Go on a road trip to the north and visit idyllic villages such as Valldemossa and Deià. The narrow streets, adorable terraces and spectacular views of these quaint villages are worth a visit. Located on the western tip of the island, Cap de Formentor offers great walks and fabulous views. From there you can drive straight to the picturesque villages of Pollença and Alcúdia with their extensive white sandy beaches. Make sure you don't skip the interior of Mallorca. Book a romantic dinner in the quiet village of Petra and visit the colourful markets in Manacor. Mallorca has all the ingredients for a dream holiday.
