Lake Bled

Picture-perfect, resembling a postcard: Lake Bled is Slovenia’s most famous attraction. On and around the lake, there are various activities in which you can engage. You could take a traditional wooden boat to the small island in the middle of the lake and visit the beautiful white church situated there. Or cycle from Lake Bled to the Vintgar Gorge. An adventurous hiking trail through this 300-metre-deep and 1600-metre-long gorge will lead you past precipitous rock walls and amazing waterfalls.

"Waterfalls, green forests and towering mountains. In Bled, you’ll be one with nature."

A visit to a medieval castle

Situated on a tall white rock and surrounded by trees, you’ll find Bled Castle. Its magnificent towers and ancient walls will remind you of the cover of a book of fairytales. Dating back to the 11th century, this castle has an inner courtyard and a small chapel. It also houses a museum where you’ll learn more about the history of Bled. Take a load off your feet in Bled Castle Restaurant and order the local delicacy Blejska Rezina with your cup of coffee. This pastry is rather similar to a millefeuille. Or sample a glass of local wine or a cold beer brewed according to traditional methods. In the adjacent gift shop, children can mint a lucky coin. Such a nice souvenir!

Water activities

If you’re an action lover, you should really go rafting on the Sava River. Following a short safety instruction, put on your life vest and helmet to let the adventure begin! Glide through crystal clear water while enjoying stunning views of the Julian Alps. And if you need to cool off after all the action, take a dip in the water or jump in from a rock. As the Sava River has a rather gradual course, this rafting adventure is suitable for the entire family. An unforgettable experience!
