Become one with nature in Bled

The famous Bled lake is a must-see during your holiday in Slovenia. There are a variety of ways to enjoy the lake. For instance, you can take a boat ride to the island in the middle of the lake. Climb the 99 steps of the little white church, ring the bell and make a wish. On a hot day, you can also do a bit of standup paddleboarding. It’s a great way to get in some exercise while also enjoying the beautiful scenery around you. Or you can rent a bike and visit the phenomenal Vintgar Gorge. Perched on the towering rocks that overlook the lake stands Bled Castle. This castle dates from the 11th century and also houses a museum. That way, you can enjoy the lovely views while also learning more about the history of the place. After all that exertion, you’ll want to grab a seat at the adjacent restaurant for a drink and a bite to eat. Want to admire Bled from a unique angle? Go tobogganing! You first take the cable car to the top and then you fly down the slope on a toboggan. Action guaranteed!

“Pristine nature, active outings and a wealth of history are waiting to be discovered.”

The capital of Ljubljana

Can’t get enough of history and stately old buildings? Well, be sure to visit the romantic capital city of Ljubljana. In the picturesque city centre, you’ll find a 376-metre tall hill topped by an imposing castle: the Ljubljanski Grad. If you’re the sporty type, you can hike to the top of the hill. Travelling with children or prefer to conserve your energy? Opt for a ride on the cable car. Visit the interior of the castle and enjoy the panoramic views of the city. On Prešeren square, you can admire the unique pink-hued Franciscan cloister and stroll across the famous dragon bridge. This remarkable spot virtually guarantees great holiday photos. Art lovers will want to stroll through the artists’ neighbourhood known as Metelkova. Everywhere you look, you’ll find brightly painted walls and colourful abstract objects.

Sun, sea and sand in Izola

Izola is the ‘tropical’ part of Slovenia, a city that has been nicknamed ‘Little Venice’. Izola was ruled by the Venetians for centuries and their influence can still be clearly seen today. The city centre is a tangle of charming narrow streets lined with colourful houses with red tile roofs. Come admire the many churches and lovely castle, the Besenghi degli Ughi Palace. The luxurious marina offers berths for fantastic yachts and small, colourful fishing boats. For ultimate relaxation, end the day on one of the many sun-soaked outdoor patios overlooking the harbour. And if it’s delicious seafood you’re after, you’ve come to the right place.
