Find your perfect holiday in Alicante

Alicante is the second largest city in the region after Valencia, and there is always something new to discover. Start your day at the Castillo de Santa Bárbara, a 9th-century castle on the Monte Benacantil hill. From here, you enjoy a stunning view over the city, the harbour and the Mediterranean Sea. Nearby stands the Cathedral of San Nicolás, with its beautiful architecture and peaceful courtyard. And do not miss the Explanada de España, a boulevard with mosaic tiles and palm trees, perfect for a stroll along the sea.

Alicante has beaches for every type of traveller. Playa del Postiguet, right next to the city centre, is perfect for a relaxed day at the sea. Lay your towel on the soft sand and enjoy the view of the boulevard. Looking for more space? Playa de San Juan is a wide beach known for its clean, safe swimming water. Great for a swim or simply soaking up the sun. For a quieter spot, head to Cala Almadraba, a small bay popular with locals and perfect for snorkelling in crystal-clear water. 

There is plenty to do in Alicante beyond the beach. Spend an afternoon shopping in Avenida Alfonso X El Sabio, one of the main shopping streets in the city. Here you will find the Mercado Central, a covered market with fresh fish, local cheeses and Spanish ham. Try some sweet figs or nectarines for the road. The wider province has plenty to offer too. Drive to the charming coastal village of Moraira and visit the weekly market, where you will find the finest local olives. End the day with a plate of tapas and a glass of local wine on a sunny terrace.
