Adventure and relaxation in the Azores

Your flight will touch down in Ponta Delgada, the largest city of the Azores on the island of Sao Miguel. Despite being the largest city in the archipelago, it is an oasis of peace and calm. The pleasant squares and colourful houses give the city a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere. Ponta Delgada is the perfect place to kick off your trip to the Azores. From there, you have plenty of options, which is a good thing too, as the other islands are definitely worth a visit as well.

Dolphin and whale watching

The major reason that many people visit the Azores is to go dolphin and whale watching. That makes perfect sense as the archipelago is located right in the middle of their habitat. The Azores is truly the place to admire these wonderful creatures. You should remember, however, that although you can see dolphins throughout the year, you will only be able to spot whales in the summer season. Charter a private boat and go dolphin and whale spotting on your own, or join an organized boat tour.

“Nature-lovers feel like they are in paradise in the Azores. This archipelago has wonderful nature and plenty more to offer.”

Discover the versatility of the Azores

In the Azores, there’s so much more to do than spotting whales and dolphins. How about taking a plunge into one of the natural hot springs? These springs have an abundance of minerals so taking a dip in the warm water promotes good health. Alternatively, you can embark on the ultimate challenge and climb to the summit of the Pico volcano on the island of Pico. It has an altitude of 2,351 metres, making it the highest mountain in Portugal. Although it is challenging to climb the mountain, once you reach the summit you will be rewarded with the most amazing view of the surrounding area. What are you waiting for?
