Located in northern Greece, Thessaloniki is the capital of Central Macedonia. You can fly there in about four hours. The minute you set foot in the centre, you’ll notice the city's rich history. Stroll from monument to monument. Climb the White Tower, the symbol of Thessaloniki. This 34-metre high building dates back to the Ottoman era. The tower provides a magnificent view over the city. You can also visit the Roman Arch of Galerius, the Rotonda of Galerius and the impressive Byzantine churches Hagia Sophia and Hagios Demetrios. If you like to wander around museums, then make time for the Archaeological Museum or the Museum of Byzantine Culture to learn more about the city's rich history.

Vibrant neighbourhoods and romantic views

The area around Aristotle Square in the Ladadika district is the buzzing part of Thessaloniki. Here you’ll discover many charming bars and eateries. This is the perfect place to take in the Greek atmosphere. We recommend booking a hotel in this district. Order a coffee or a glass of 'tsipouro' and enjoy the Mediterranean life. Walk along the promenade to reach the famous work of artist Georgios Zongolopoulos – a fascinating forest of umbrellas by the water. Adventure in Greek nature

Looking for beautiful nature walks? Rent a car and drive to Axios Delta National Park, just outside the city. This park includes several rivers, lagoons and a swamp, a paradise for a relaxing outing. Continue a little further beyond Thessaloniki and you’ll come across Lake Kerkini. This is another national park that is a must for nature lovers. Spend the afternoon exploring and then finish your day in style, dining on pita bread filled with the most delicious gyros, vegetables and, of course, tzatziki! No Greek dish is complete without a healthy portion of garlic.
