Fun activities in and around La Palma

Are you looking forward to a holiday full of nature, culture, peace and quiet, and lovely walks? Then La Palma is the right place for you. La Palma is known as the ‘walking island of Spain’. Volcanoes, craters, mountain villages and a centuries-old laurel forest... you can find it all here! Of course, there is plenty more to do on the island. Climb the Roque de los Muchachos, the highest mountain on the island; from the top, you can enjoy a wonderful view and, if the weather is good, you can even see Tenerife. Or take a trip to Santa Cruz de la Palma, the capital of the island. Would you rather just relax? Then lay on one of the stunning black lava beaches or go on a boat trip. With a bit of luck, you may spot some dolphins, as they are often seen here.

An island full of volcanoes

Just like the other Canary Islands, La Palma was created by volcanic eruptions at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Would you like to learn more about these volcanoes during your holiday? Then you should pay a visit to the village of Todoque. Here you will find a 520-metre lava tunnel that you can crawl through. Another site worth visiting is the Caldera de Taburiente, one of the largest erosion craters in the world. Take the short volcano route (7 km) from the village of Los Canarios through a young volcanic landscape to the salt fields.
