The most interesting neighbourhoods in Amman

Amman is one of the trendiest cities in the Middle East. You’ll find lots of great neighbourhoods here that are certainly worth a visit. Why not head to the old city, Jabal Amman, where you’ll find traditional coffee houses, restaurants and a colourful market? If you love art, you have to visit the Jabal al-Weibdeh neighbourhood, on the western hill. Here you can marvel at historic buildings and modern art galleries. If you’re interested in learning more about Amman’s history, you simply have to visit the old citadel. Climb to the top of the city’s highest hill and enjoy the spectacular view. Admire the citadel and walk past the many historical ruins, including the Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad complex, the Umayyad Palace and the Byzantine church. On the way back, stop off at the old Roman theatre at the foot of the Amman Citadel. Not only is the theatre a popular tourist attraction, but the amphitheatre also continues to be used for shows and performances to this day.
